How to Use Standing Meditation Techniques
The practice of meditation has been popular and widely conducted across the globe for quite some time already. It is a basic knowledge that meditation techniques and principles arose from the Eastern culture and religion, particularly in Buddhism. But other religions also adopted the practice. Now, different meditation techniques are being recognized and practiced by more and more people all over the world. Health conscious people are more into such techniques because of the known and proven health benefits they could derive from such practices. The famous Buddha of the Buddhist religion was quoted as saying that there are basically four types of noble postures that could help people discover and find overall enlightenment. These postures are walking, lying at the back, sitting and standing. Of all the four postures, standing is the least popular mainly because of obvious reasons. Standing meditation Standing meditation is basically the simplest posture among the four main postures in effective meditation. But it is the least popular, probably because it is the most dreaded by people. You are inevitably exposed and subjected to standing for long through everyday occurrences. You stand for a long period when you are falling in line when getting ticket fare, when paying your stuff at the grocery counter or before you embark in the bus. You stand when you are cleaning the dishes or when you are talking to the sales lady in the department store. People associate weariness and being tired to standing because the activity is boring, idle and put pressure to the legs. But did you know that you could redirect your energies when standing up? Instead of feeling tired, you could easily make the activity beneficial to your health. And you could do that simply by doing meditation while standing. Standing meditation is the art of meditating simply by remaining standing. To do this meditation technique, you must initially observe the following actions. - Stand comfortably. Make sure your spine is straight and your feet are away from each other for about a shoulder distance. This position would not only help you relax. It could also ensure that your weight is evenly distributed, so you can maintain your good posture. - Place your opened palms at your abdomen, left over right. Breathe in air and feel how your tummy is full of air and how it expands in the process. - Hold your breath for about four seconds after inhaling air. After that, slowly exhale air and feel how your abdomen contacts inward as you released air. Do this for several times and focus. You would eventually notice that your mind has been cleared of any negative and bothering thoughts. The key to making any meditation technique successful is to observe and practice proper focus. Through concentration, you would surely attain mental and emotional well-being. And standing meditation would surely help you attain that. Standing meditation can be the least popular among other meditation techniques, but you would surely find that it is the simplest and easiest to execute. The health benefits can also be so tremendous.
