Meditation Day for Men and Other Fall Offerings at the Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley

Easthampton, MA (PRWEB) November 2, 2007 -- The Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley is pleased to announce several special Fall offerings. Insight PV is a non-residential meditation center offering Vipassana, or "clear-seeing" meditation in the Buddhist tradition. Through calming the mind and holding ourselves with kindness, meditation can bring greater insight, awareness and contentment to our lives.

On Saturday, November 10, Chas and Ray DiCapua will offer a one-day mindfulness meditation retreat for men. This retreat is an opportunity for men to sit together with an intention to develop wisdom and compassion. There will be time for formal meditation practice, questions, answers and dialog. The retreat will take place from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The suggested donation to Insight PV is $20-$30.

On Monday evenings from November 12 to December 17, Jean Esther will facilitate a six-session class, "Exploring Fear and Trust Through the Wisdom Teachings of the Buddha". Through formal meditation practice, discussion and talks, the class will explore the experience, nature and understanding of fear as a bridge to trust and a doorway to awakening. The classes will take place on Mondays from 7:15-9:15 p.m. The suggested donation to Insight PV is $35-$60 for the series.

On Sunday, November 18, Insight PV's guiding teacher Rebecca Bradshaw will offer a half-day retreat on "Judgment and Acceptance". Many of us find, when we sit down to meditate, a relentless stream of filtering and judgment of our experience that causes us to feel alienated, unworthy, and emotionally vulnerable. This morning retreat will explore relating to ourselves and our experience with evenness and loving acceptance, bringing us greater stability and peace. The retreat will take place from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The suggested donation to Insight PV is $10-$20.

The Center also offers weekly and monthly open sittings on an ongoing basis. Open "drop-in" sittings are offered weekly on Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 p.m. At each sitting, a 45-minute silent meditation period is followed by an optional discussion where questions about meditation practice are welcome.

On November 3 and December 1, there will be half-day open Saturday sittings from 8:30 a.m.-noon. Our half-day sittings are an opportunity for more intensive practice without requiring the commitment of an entire day. They include meditation and walking practice, and may also include meditation instructions and a taped talk.

For all open sittings there is no set fee, but participants are welcome to contribute towards Insight PV's expenses. For all classes and retreats, donations to the teachers, who receive no salary, are gratefully accepted. No one, however, will be turned away from any event for lack of funds. Our Eastworks facility is wheelchair accessible. For the comfort of chemically sensitive individuals, we use no incense.
